Lab Equipment

Thank you so very much for the $250 grant awarded in 2010 to help purchase equipment for my class and the science department at Madison High School. With the money you provided, I purchased some equipment from a company called Vernier to allow students to collect and analyze data. The first piece of equipment is used to collect data about electrical power and current being used. So far students have used it to do research about how much electrical power is used by “sleeping” computers and video games and by charging laptop computers. I also purchased a light sensor probe and UV sensor probe from Vernier to use with their data collection handheld computer. Students are researching how efficient solar panels are under different types of light. This equipment will last for years and can be used by students to study many different topics. Thanks again for your help.

Classroom Projector

Last year I wrote to you for a grant to purchase an LCD projector for my classroom.  Although it took awhile to install the projector, it has since been a great resource for all of out educational goals we have had this year.

We use it for so many different things.  From student projects and demonstrations, to teacher created videos and presentations.  It has been an invaluable tool for learning in our classroom.  It has also relieved us of some problems associated with sharing other LCD projectors with the whole school.

As you know, the library allows some LCD projectors to be borrowed, but with a limited supply, they are on a first come first serve basis.  Having a projector in the room ensures that a projector will be available for both students and teacher whenever they need it.

Thank you so very much for the kind and generous gift.  It has truly opened up doors for our class that were not available before.

Sound System

I want to take a minute and thank the foundation for the generous $1000.00 grant they provided to Burton Elementary for help in funding a new sound system. The new sound system has made a huge impact on the usability of the multipurpose room for performances, presentations, and even PE as music can be piped through the system for dance and other aerobic exercises. The installation was professional and added to the beauty of the new building. Attached are a few pictures of the system and it being used. Again thank you for all the support the MEF gives to the Madison School District.

Rackets

Our Elementary Physical Education Program is very thankful for the $350.00 contribution made to us by the Madison Education Foundation. We were able to purchase 30 rackets, 3 dz indoor balls and 2 dz low bounce tennis balls. This equipment order will help us begin to bring indoor racket games & skill development to our District's K-4th grade students. Currently, we will use the equipment on a rotation schedule to allow our six Elementary P.E. Programs a chance to teach racket skills to our students. In the future, we hope that this contribution will help fuel a Tennis After-School Program, and help us find funding so all the elementery schools can have their own equipment.
