Perpetual Grant Fund
In 1993 the Madison Education Foundation was formed by a committee of citizens interested in enhancing the educational opportunities for local students of the Madison School District. The original goal was to find a few donors who would create a Grant Fund of One Million Dollars that would perpetually fund grants year after year with the return on investment that would be earned. Due to circumstances of the day, this vision was not realized. The Foundation then turned to fundraising as a means to create the vision of a being able to enhance the educational opportunities in the Madison School District.
Today this fund has grown and become the financial resource for the mission of the Foundation. Over the years the annual Teacher Grant program has funded anywhere from $7,000 on up. In recent years this amount has exceeded $14,000 consistently. As the total amount requested through grants grows, the need for additional funds also grows. Every year the fund is added to, thereby increasing the rate of return and the amount of funds available for grants. There is a need to continue the growth of the fund as the District continues to grow and awareness of the Teacher Grants grows.
